THE VENUE

Is a large hall once used for theatrical productions before the nearby Playhouse Theatre was created. It is airy and lit from large windows around the hall. The kitchen and a ‘corner’ of the hall are used regularly for coffee mornings.  Food and refreshment will be available during the day.  The hall is a few minutes walk from the High Street where there are several restaurants and public houses serving cooked meals etc.

THE DATE

Is Whitstable Carnival Day when many visitors and tourists will be looking for somewhere interesting to visit. The sea and harbour satisfy for the while, but then most visitors have walks along the old High Street, certainly when visiting for the first time.  Many will have seen posters or a bill-board advertising our ‘market’.  If you are able, please assist by displaying a poster or offering leaflets.

ADVERTISING

Will be by A4 Posters; A5 and A6 Leaflets; Billboards; and across the fence between the hall and Middle Wall car park; also leaflets issued with the monthly magazine Small Printer.

CAR PARKING

Entrance to the hall is immediately accessible from the main car park (for the High Street and theatre) with space for 90 cars. Additional parking facilities are hoped to be available at Whitstable Junior School - behind the Library further along from the theatre and organised as a charity car park - donations being sought for ‘the charity of the day’.

It is hoped there will be a Park & Ride service into the town.

Note   At the weekends and holiday dates, the car parks in Whitstable fill up quickly, and stay full right through to the evening; it is for that reason we aim to be clear of the procession well before it starts.

THE EVENT

Is intended to promote the British Printing Society locally and allow members/printers from Kent, London and the adjacent counties to gather for the day, an annual event, meeting new and old printing friends; exhibiting and/or selling ‘printing’ related equipment; also books and prints.

Only a quarter of the space available is required by that society, so other tables and space will be available for handcrafts and arts.
